In this article, we will look at how you can configure the settings for your Mailbird Calendar. There are a number of settings which you can use to personalize your calendar in just a few clicks, and we've made the process as simple as possible so you can get the most out of Mailbird's Calendar in very little time.
To begin with, click on the Gear icon in the top right-hand corner of the calendar to reveal three options, as shown below:
- Click on Settings to open the Calendar settings which we will look at shortly.
- Click on Refresh and sync to sync all the accounts which you connected to the calendar.
- You can also hit F5 on your keyboard as a shortcut to refresh your calendar.
- Lastly, you can also show or hide the left-hand menu by clicking on the Show left menu option.
We will now go through each tab from the Settings menu to explain what each one of them can offer.
Accounts Tab
Below is an image of what the Accounts tab looks like after you have selected it. We have added four different numbers to highlight areas of interest which we will now examine more closely.
Once an email account is connected to Mailbird's Native Calendar, you will need to apply a checkmark in order to sync its events so that they can be retrieved from your existing calendar and populated in Mailbird's. In the image above, there is a 1 located next to where you can apply the checkmark.
Which calendars are compatible with Mailbird's Native Calendar?
Not all email accounts are supported by Mailbird, but the most popular ones certainly are:
- With Mailbird's Native Calendar, you can connect any Google calendars regardless of whether you have also connected a Google email account to Mailbird.
- However, with Microsoft accounts it will be necessary to make sure that you first connect an email account to Mailbird in order for the calendar to also work, due to Microsoft's own architecture.
Any other email accounts which aren't supported will have the i tooltip icon next to them (as shown in the image above where 2).
- Please note that this does not mean that you cannot connect calendars from unsupported email providers, but you should keep in mind that it will not be possible to sync events with for unsupported email accounts.
- In other words, if you connect an unsupported email account such as Yahoo to Mailbird, and create an event in Mailbird's Native Calendar for that specific Yahoo email account, then the event won't appear in your Yahoo calendar when you access it via webmail (and vice-versa, if you create it in Yahoo's calendar, it won't appear in Mailbird's). Below is an image which shows you the text which appears when you hover over the i tooltip.
Other features
You can arrange the order of the email accounts by using drag & drop - simply click on the icon adjacent to 3 in the image, and then move the email account up or down to your preferred spot.
It's important to point out that if you only want to use the calendar of an email account without actually connecting the email account to Mailbird, you can do that by clicking the +Connect other account button (next to where 4 has been placed).
General Tab
Below is an image of the General tab located in the Settings menu:
There are three sections within it which we will now examine:
- Time and Region - You can either use your Windows time-zone or set it to a different time-zone of your choosing. You can also change the time format if you like (e.g. 02:00 PM or 14:00).
- Event settings - Choose which calendar will be shown as your default one when creating an event, as well as the default event duration. Just click on the dropdown menu to view the options for each.
- View options - Change the day you would like the week to start on, and choose whether or not you would like the week numbers to be shown in your calendar. You can also make past events appear faded out to more easily distinguish them from future events.
Calendars Tab
You can also Add or Edit calendars in this tab, similarly to the left-hand column in the calendar itself.
Choosing to remove a calendar from Mailbird will also permanently delete it from the calendar's server and prevent anyone else who has access to it from viewing it. As the pop-up below shows, Mailbird will make sure that you are notified of this before proceeding, so it's very important that the consequences of this action are clear before you go ahead and remove a calendar.
Import & export Tab
To find out more information about how this tab works, we suggest reading this other article here which goes into detail about how to get the most out of this feature.
