Why you are seeing this error
If Mailbird cannot find or reach your mail server during account setup, you may see technical messages such as nodename nor servname provided, or not known, name or service not known, temporary failure in name resolution, or host not found. These messages usually point to a network or DNS problem.
Common causes
- Your computer is offline or has lost internet access.
- Your DNS server cannot resolve the mail server hostname.
- The incoming or outgoing server name was entered incorrectly.
- A VPN, proxy, firewall, or security tool is interfering with the connection.
What to do
- Make sure your internet connection is working by opening a few websites in your browser.
- Double-check the incoming and outgoing server names in your account settings.
- If you are using a VPN or proxy, temporarily disable it and try again.
- Restart your router or switch to another network if possible.
- If the server names are correct but the problem continues, contact your email provider or IT admin and ask whether there is a DNS or server issue.
