Yes, you can connect your Proton Mail account to Mailbird.

However, because of Proton Mail’s security features, you will need to use Proton Mail Bridge and the account details generated by Bridge instead of your usual Proton Mail password.

đź§ľ Before You Start: Checklist

Make sure you have the following covered before you try to connect your Proton account to Mailbird:

  • Your Proton subscription includes Email client support via IMAP/SMTP.
  • Proton Mail Bridge is installed on your Windows device. If it is not installed yet, you can download it from Proton’s website.
  • You are signed in to Proton Mail Bridge and the status in Bridge shows as Connected.
  • The encryption method in Proton Mail Bridge is set to STARTTLS, and the encryption method in Mailbird is set to TLS.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Follow these steps to connect Proton Mail to Mailbird:

  1. Open Proton Mail Bridge and log in with your Proton Mail credentials.
  2. Check that the status in the top left corner of Proton Mail Bridge is listed as Connected.
  3. In Proton Mail Bridge, open the account details for the Proton account you want to add to Mailbird.
  4. Keep the Bridge-generated email client details visible. You will need the username, password, IMAP details, and SMTP details shown in Bridge.

⚙️ Setup in Mailbird

  1. Open Mailbird.
  2. Click the Mailbird menu in the top-left corner of the window, then click Settings.
  3. Go to the Accounts tab.
  4. Click Add to add a new email account.
  5. Enter your name and your Proton Mail email address, then continue.
  6. Use the username and password generated by Proton Mail Bridge. Do not use your regular Proton Mail password.
  7. If Mailbird displays a server certificate warning, click Yes to proceed.
  8. Click Continue to finish adding the account.

That’s it! Your Proton Mail account should now be connected to Mailbird.
