🧩 Introduction to Custom Apps in Mailbird

You can now add any app you like to Mailbird in just a few simple steps. This powerful feature lets you access your favorite apps directly inside Mailbird, without the need to switch between different programs or browser tabs.

Let’s walk through how to set up a custom app.

🛠️ How to Start Adding a Custom App

  1. Click the Apps icon located in the bottom-left corner of Mailbird.

  2. At the top of the Apps page, click + Custom app.

🔗 Adding an App

Let’s imagine that you want to add the OneDrive app. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Provide the app's URL (e.g., onedrive.live.com).

  2. Choose an icon that represents the app or upload one of your choosing.

  3. Name your app (e.g., "OneDrive").

  4. Click Go to generate a preview.

  5. If the preview looks good, click OK to finalize the setup.

💡 The preview page will generally display the app's homepage, since you'll need to sign in to the app before you can begin using it. This is perfectly normal, and once you have enabled your custom app, simply sign in to it in order complete the process.

🧭 Optional: Enable Sidebar Version

You can also choose to Enable sidebar version of the app. This feature lets you:

  • View the app in Mailbird's sidebar (as shown in the screenshot below).

  • Keep the app open while still reading or managing your email.

✅ Final Confirmation

Once you've completed all of the relevant fields and checked the preview:

  1. Click OK to confirm your setup.

  2. Your custom app icon will now appear on the left-hand side of Mailbird.

  3. You can launch OneDrive (or any other app you’ve added) directly from inside Mailbird.

You can see below how the custom OneDrive app will appear in Mailbird via the sidebar view (if enabled).

💡 If you enable the optional sidebar view, you will be able to adjust the width of the sidebar view by clicking and dragging its border to make it larger or smaller according to your preference.
