🔍 How to Check Your Email Protocol

In this brief guide, we’ll show you how to determine whether one of your email accounts in Mailbird is using the IMAP, POP3, or Exchange protocol. It only takes a few seconds.

🧭 Steps to Identify Your Email Account Protocol

  1. Click on the Mailbird Menu (☰) in the top left-hand corner.

  2. Click on Settings.

  3. In the next menu, select the Accounts tab.

  4. Double-click on the email account you'd like to check.

  5. Take a look at the port numbers:

    • 995 and 110 indicate a POP3 account.

    • Any other port numbers will indicate an IMAP account.

    • If no port number is shown and instead you see a Server URL, then it’s an Exchange account.
