With Mailbird, you have the option to enable or disable email notifications - some people prefer not to be disturbed, while others would like to be alerted immediately whenever they receive a new email. Everyone has their own preference, and is free to make their own choice!
If you choose to activate notifications, you will see a message pop-up appear above your system tray, as shown below.
If you then click on the pop-up, Mailbird will open that email for you, even if you were keeping Mailbird minimized.
You will also be able to see the number of unread emails at any time by opening the tray menu - simply look at the number adjacent to Mailbird's icon to out how many emails require your attention, as shown below.
To adjust your email notification settings, follow these steps:
- Open the Mailbird menu in the top lefthand corner (i.e. the three horizontal lines).
- Click on Settings.
- Navigate to the General tab.
- Here, you can apply or remove a checkmark next to Show tray notifications when receiving a message.
- You can also do the same for Show unread count in taskbar & system tray.
